It's been suggested that if The Police and Paul Simon wrote songs together, mixed in a little Viola and then added Natalie Merchant as their singer - you's have a notion of the OstinAuto Sound. Their name is based on a musical term "ostinato", which is a well defined musical segment that is repeated. All their songs are built on repeated lines from the piccolo bass which is kind of like a six string electric cello. Listen for yourself and see if you can pick it out. Their CD "The Whole World Spinz Anyway" blends equal amounts of folk, pop, jazz, and Celtic music to refresh your senses and keep you intrigued throughout. The lyrics are well crafted, deep and reflective with a realistic balance of cynicism and hope. If you are a fan of The Police, Paul Simon, Natalie Merchant, Aimee Mann or Sheryl Crow this CD is for you! |
